Like looking directly into the sun…

Suzanne McCarthy has started a new series on Better Bibles Blog about the names of God, titled “Psalm 68“. She opens by saying:

“I have put off for over a year a series which has been requested more than once. It is only with the utmost hesitation and reluctance that I embark on this series. It is about the names of God. Because I really am an old fashioned person, and reared in a very strict way, I feel a certain taboo in talking directly about God. It is like looking directly into the sun.”

I understand Suzanne’s last comment very well, probably like very few others ever have. I touched on the subject in my post “Yes, that’s really my name…“, where I made a few notes about what it’s been like living with the Almighty as my namesake. It will be interesting to read more of Suzanne’s series, especially when she gets to verse 14.
