A Biblical “Who’s Who” in the Edwards family

I was rereading my grandpa’s obituary earlier this week; dutifully noted toward the end was the list of grandchildren and great-grandchildren:

“He leaves behind … his grandchildren, ElShaddai Edwards (Cindy), Isaac Edwards, Seth Stewart (Marsha), Abel Stewart (Lupina), Daniel Edwards, Megan Edwards (deceased), Matthew Edwards; and his great-grandchildren, Samuel Edwards, Benjamin Edwards, Matthew Stewart, Luke Stewart, Timothy Stewart and Pedro Stewart.”

ElShaddai, Isaac, Seth, Abel, Daniel, Matthew (twice!), Samuel, Benjamin, Luke, Timothy and Pedro (Peter) – now that is a collection of Biblical names! I think it’s fair to say that we have the Old and New Testaments covered without even getting into middle names, e.g. Benjamin James. I told Cindy when we were choosing a name for our oldest son Sam that I had a strong preference for solid, simple Biblical names – it must be genetic!

Forgive me if you’ve heard this song before, but I've decided to stop blogging at He is Sufficient. I truly appreciate all of the wit, wisdom and words of faith that you have shared with me over the past few years. I wish you well in all of your endeavors, whatever they may be and wherever they may lead you. “God is sufficient for the needs of His people”. Amen!
