Words wither and blogs fade away…
Forgive me if you’ve heard this song before, but I've decided to stop blogging at He is Sufficient. I truly appreciate all of the wit, wisdom and words of faith that you have shared with me over the past few years. I wish you well in all of your endeavors, whatever they may be and wherever they may lead you. “God is sufficient for the needs of His people”. Amen!

Two Ends of the Vine
I was struck recently by some thematic similarities between Ezekiel 15 and John 15, but have not yet found the words to adequately draw my thoughts together:
Both passages speak to the usefulness of believers (Israel and believers in Christ) and their connection to the Lord. Ezekiel condemns Jerusalem for its unfaithfulness, for turning the special wood of the (grape)vine (symbol of Israel) into an ordinary branch of wood, no different than the nations around them, used for the ordinary and mundane. Christ condemns those who are unfaithful to the vine, who go their own way, and lauds those who remain in the vine (Him), bearing fruit and bringing glory to the Gardener.
