Thanks for that trivia, Eric. Now I’ll be forever distracted in the middle of that verse…

I also noted that the lyrics online differed on “Ev’ry dreamer dreaming in their dead-end job”. Several sites had it as “Ev’ry dreamer dreaming in her dead-end job”. I chose the gender-neutral version.

Here’s a bit of Berean trivia, ElShaddai: I’m single-handedly responsible for having changed the lyric as we sing it in church; “laying” rhymes nicely with “playing”, but it’s just plain wrong. So (with Tim’s permission) we now all sing “ev’ry baby lying on the bedroom floor.”

It doesn’t flow as well… but for those of us who are picky about grammar, it was worse to sing the wrong word.

So if you glance up from the horn line at the screen and think, “Hey… that’s not the way I remember it!”… you can blame me.

The sections marked (All) and (Chorus) are sung corporately – the intro is done solo by our worship pastor. Though to be honest, I’ve never worshiped with this song outside of playing in the horn line, which means that until I listened to the Belfast album yesterday, I’d never really “heard” the song.

Excellent lyrics. Robin Mark is very loved in the UK. I thought I had this one in the collection but can’t find it. I’ll keep an eye out for it and try to give it a listen one of these days. Is this sung corporately or as a choir. Seems kinda weird for a corporate sing-along.

I just finished listening to the extended version on the “Revival in Belfast” album – very good! Though he could use some horns to go along with the Irish pipes and strings…

“I can hear that thunder in the distance, like a train on the edge of the town” is such a wonderful image – I’m glad you didn’t pick on it! Though for me, “train thunder” brings to mind a semi-pro baseball field here in Minneapolis with tracks just behind the outfield.

Great song, thanks! I saw it in our church song book earlier and considered "I can hear that thunder in the distance, like a train on the edge of the town" for my latest weird worship post, but I decided this was such a good song that I wouldn't cheapen it with criticism.
