Good thoughts, Paul – thanks!

I’ve fought the “if you do X, you’ll get Y” and the “you’re supposed to do Z” mentalities all my life, instead trying to find a natural response to the gifts of love and grace inside myself, but always despairing at the empty empathy of my wretched condition, even when I do X, Y and Z.

I imagine that learning to accept and live the gifts of salvation – love, grace, forgiveness – will be a lifelong endeavor.

My first Meme! Hope I’ve got it right.

I try, and want, to move beyond the bounds of legalism, but find it so easy to slip back into it at times. It’s almost like a “comfort blanket”. And, yet, the love and grace of God should fulfil that role. I guess that’s part of our human nature coming through.

nice. i suppose breaking the rules was acceptable given the situation…

we all struggle with these things… but being filled with the spirit is still something i haven’t wrapped my head around…

El, I had a similar struggle with legalism. In fact, about five years ago I began a study on the subject of grace, which got me fired from a church I was preaching at. The church was legalistic and my new brand of preaching on the grace of God became offensive to some.
