Words wither and blogs fade away…
Forgive me if you’ve heard this song before, but I've decided to stop blogging at He is Sufficient. I truly appreciate all of the wit, wisdom and words of faith that you have shared with me over the past few years. I wish you well in all of your endeavors, whatever they may be and wherever they may lead you. “God is sufficient for the needs of His people”. Amen!

Blog blogging
Just a quick note to apologize for spending more time doing blog design lately than actually blogging. I do have a couple of things in the hopper and hope to get those out shortly. In the meantime, I’ve been playing around with the minimalistic Sandbox theme and creating various CSS designs. Nothing wild or outlandish, [...]

Idle translation: 1 Thessalonians 5.14
Damian at Castle of Nutshells has a new post up with a blind translation comparison of 1 Thessalonians 5.14, quoted here from the REB (not one of his compared versions): We urge you, friends, to rebuke the idle, encourage the faint-hearted, support the weak, and be patient with everyone. Damian notes a variety of translations [...]

Blogroll updates
A number of blogs and/or their authors have caught my attention lately and I wanted to give them a shout out here: kataeuangelion — Stuart is a regular commenter on TC’s blog. I’d tell you what his blog title means, but I don’t read “squiggle”… that said, I recommend his series on the “truncated gospel”. [...]

NT use of the OT: Fuller Meaning, Single Goal
NT Use of the OT — Test Your View! Mystic pizza
One of the last memes that Peter Kirk passed along was “what type of pizza are you?” Now he’s back with another, this time a “Spiritual Types Test“. But while Peter scores as a Sage, I’ve come in as a Mystic: You are a Mystic, known for your imaginative, intuitive spirituality. You value peace, harmony, [...]

Blog update
The careful observer will note that this blog has a new web home – after a year and a half of residence at “heissufficient.net“, I’ve been able to secure “heissufficient.com” for immediate use! The previous owner’s registration expired a few months ago and I was contacted by some holding company, offering a “once in a [...]

Comparing Jonahs: ESV vs NLT Study Bibles
Jeff (Scripture Zealot) and Sean Harrison (NLT Study Bible) have been doing a fantastic job of centralizing many of the recent NLT Study Bible reviews and articles, but I wanted to call your attention to a recent review at Biblia Hebraica comparing the book of Jonah in both editions. Part 1 – introductory comments on [...]

Anglicans await the ESV Apocrypha…
For an even-toned defense of the ESV and anticipation of Oxford’s edition with the Apocrypha, check out The spread of the English Standard Version at Quo Vadis, a blog by an Episcopalian priest in the Diocese of Tennessee, Jody Howard.

On being Googlized and other random blogging thoughts
I’m giving up on Bloglines, or at least the beta version that never seems to end. I like the Bloglines format more than anything else, but, as far as I can tell, the beta is missing basic functionality like sharing folders via RSS feeds and/or Javascript, meaning you have to bounce between beta and the [...]
